Cellulite (medically known as edematous-fibrosclerotic panniculopathy) is an alteration of the subcutaneous tissue, characterized by an accumulation of fat, fluid retention, and changes in the connective tissue.
It manifests with an irregular and wavy appearance of the skin, commonly described as “orange peel” or “mattress-like”.
It is very common, especially among women, and tends to be located in areas such as thighs, buttocks, hips, and abdomen.
The causes are multiple:
Hormonal factors (estrogen variations)Genetic predisposition
Sedentary lifestyle
Unbalanced diet
Even though it is not a serious disease, it is often considered a blemish and many people try to reduce it with cosmetic treatments, massages, targeted physical activity, and a balanced diet.
Microcirculation problems
